Nobody enjoys needing to get a car repair done- especially when it's for a car getting to the end of its life. But once again, there I was, couldn't smog it without some work, work most likely more than the value of the car. I chose to bring it to Wayne & Sons for a third opinion and I'm pretty happy I made that choice. There were no surprises, just to the point straight talk. Their specialist for Volvos came in and did a close inspection of every possible potential clue/reason for giving his recommendation. His result was recommending a completely different repair, about $2000 less but only 90% sure and explained why. I took the gamble and one of the guys drove it home for the night and back just to make sure the code didn't come back. He then brought it to get smogged. It passed.
